Service & Repair

We speak bicycle! Our professional service staff is fluent in all dialects of bicycle maintenance and we pride ourselves on meeting the highest standards of quality. Whether a bike needs building out of a box, a tune-up or an overhaul our service department is always prepared to serve you with the highest quality and precision.

Tune-Up:

A Tune-Up is a complete inspection and adjustment of your bicycle. We adjust the derailleurs (the gears and their alignment) and the brakes. We also true wheels, check your hubs, adjust the headset, adjust the bottom bracket and check all nuts and bolts to make sure everything is tight to spec. Furthermore, we check the chain for stretch and your drive train for any wear. We then lube your bike as needed. Parts and installation labor are not included. We recommend tune-ups once a year at a minimum for all bikes!

$75 (ADULT/GEARED)

Safety Check:

This service is at the discretion of our mechanics. This occurs when a bike that is well maintained and regularly cared for comes in for a tune-up and DOES NOT require the full scope of the aforementioned service. All necessary adjustments are made during the service to ensure the bike is in proper working order.

Drivetrain Overhaul:

A Drivetrain Overhaul consists of the complete disassembly, cleaning, reassembly and adjustment of your Cranks, Chain, Cassette or Freewheel, Front Derailleur and Rear Derailleur. New cables are also installed. This will ensure that you get the best performance and maximum life from your drive components.

Full Bike Overhaul:

During a complete bike overhaul all the components are removed, the frame is cleaned and the threads are checked and chased (if necessary). Then the Headset, hubs & bottom bracket are overhauled, cleaned, adjusted, re-lubed & reinstalled. New Cables and Housing are installed. The brakes and derailleurs are adjusted and the pulleys are lubed. Wheels are trued (lateral, round and tension), drivetrain is cleaned lubed and adjusted and all nuts and bolts are checked.

Bike Build:

          Sadly not everyone buys their bike here. However, if you decided to purchase a bike from a faraway land where shipping was necessary (via “mail order”) we are still more than happy to build it for you! It is important to make sure you are safe while riding and though the bike isn’t ours, we will treat it as one of our own. This service is similar to a tune-up but do to the complicated nature of some builds prices may vary.

        $50-$120

Box a Bike for Shipping:

          In order to box a bike for safe and economic shipping we remove the Handlebars, Front Wheel, Pedals, Seat and Seat Post. Then we place it in the smallest possible box with reinforced sides. Please note that we DO NOT ship bicycles but we are happy to point you in the right direction. The typical size of an adult bikes box is 52x9x29 at an average weight of 40lbs.

Ship Your Bike Here!!

         If you are sending your bike from afar and would like it reassembled by a professional mechanic then send it to us directly. All you need to do is call before you ship the bike so we know we are looking for it. We will write up a repair form, BUILD the bike when it arrives and call you to come and get it as soon as the job is completed. This service is similar to a tune-up but do to the complicated nature of some builds prices may vary.

IMPORTANT

As the best bicycle shop in Fairfield Co. and quite possibly the entire world, we strive to offer unsurpassed service and according to our customers, we do. This being the case, it's easy to imagine how busy the riding season can be for us and those of you who have come in for a tune up in the middle of summer can attest to this.

As a result we have instituted the following storage policy:

All repairs must be picked up within 1 week (7 days) of completion.

Bicycles that are not picked up are subject to storage fees at a rate of $12 per week per bike. We feel this fee is more than fair. If you need a little extra time we will be happy to work with you if arrangements are made in a timely manner. We have heard every story and every excuse, so please don't waste your time or the shops time. Cycle Dynamics will be more than happy to pick up and deliver bikes for a nominal fee as well.
