Cruiser Bikes

Cruiser bikes are typically exemplified by a relatively upright seating position, a very traditional style which can include fenders, racks, head and or tail-lights, "springer" style front ends, balloon tires and simple often times tu-tone paint and graphic schemes. Mechanically these bicycles are very simple as well; employing single-speed, 3-speed (internally geared) or 7/8 (internal or external) speed technology in an easy to manage component package.

While great fun to ride, it goes without saying that these are not the most efficient types of bicycles. Your greatest enjoyment with this style of bike will come on light cruises during which you encounter few to no hills and trips usually not exceeding 7-10 miles. As with other types of bikes there are sub-genres within this class. Low-riders, stretch beach cruisers, townies, comfort bikes, theme cruisers are all great fun and some of the most aesthetically pleasing bikes on the road today. Cost is usually commensurate with the level of detail and design, they range from some of the most affordable adult bikes to outrageously priced one-of-a-kind show pieces.
